Gatorz Phoenix Preview
Overdrive Motorsports heads to Phoenix for the second round of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas, at the PKRA circuit.
At round 1, Calgary’s Austin King was the only driver to challenge Fritz Leesman in the fastest category, DD2. Now having more seat-time under his belt, King hopes to improve from his 3rd position standing in the points.
King will also be pulling double-duty Senior Max class where the field is deepest. Austin is very comfortable aboard his Scuderia PCR MXK8 chassis and took a win at a recent club race at PKRA on February 12th.
Junior driver Jim Mckinney will again be pitting with Team odkarts.com and has positioned himself 6th overall in the points heading to his home track. Some small chassis tweaks and more engine development will be the tools Jim will use to his advantage this weekend.
DD2 Masters driver Mark Wheeler has strung an impressive pair of second place finishes aboard his Overdrive Powered PCR Advance chassis and hopes to repeat his latest performances.
A new independent driver has turned to Overdrive Power. Phoenix’s Derek Poirier will have a 2012 Overdrive FR125 in the Masters Category. Derek currently stands 5th in the standings is excited for the change “I know the track very well in Phoenix, and know I can compete at the front now that I have power that I can trust!” commented Poirier as he prepares for the event.
Other Overdrive Powered drivers include: Bryan Lemon and Josh Sarchet in Sr Max, Matt McMurry in Jr Max, Jessica Dezall in MiniMax and Curtis Ruth’s Innovative Karting squad – Augie Lerch in Sr Max, Austin Kuehl in Jr Max.
